From Miro to MCP: Building Catalyst Together
Should AI-supported business design depend on a single tool?
Over the past months, we’ve been exploring how AI can support Data & AI Business Design through Miro Sidekicks, AI Flows, and collaborative canvases.
These experiments helped us test how AI can support teams in developing strategies, identifying use cases, and challenging assumptions.
But they also raised a bigger question:
What if these capabilities could be used wherever teams already work?
Business context rarely lives in one place. Strategy documents, spreadsheets, workshop boards, and team discussions all contain different pieces of the picture.
That’s why we’re taking the next step with Catalyst.
We’re developing Catalyst as an open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Data & AI Business Design, with the goal of making our business-design methods and capabilities accessible through different MCP-compatible AI tools.
And we’re not building it alone.
We recently held our first Catalyst Co-Creation Community Circle (C⁵) at Axel Springer in Berlin, bringing together people from Datentreiber and Axel Springer to exchange perspectives on Catalyst’s development.
We explored how MCP, AI-supported business design, and collaborative workflows could come together, and discussed how developers, business professionals, and future users could help shape Catalyst.
Here’s a glimpse of the Miro board from our first C⁵, where we collected ideas and explored the next steps for Catalyst.

Because building in public isn’t just about sharing results. It’s about learning throughout the process.
The more you share, the more you learn.

What would matter most to you in an AI business-design assistant: integration with existing tools, reusable business context, or support for better decisions?
Tell us now in the Group and join the public building and co-creation process. When you have a seat at the table, you can decide the course of actions and how Catalyst develops.
See you there!
