Newsletter December: Talk to Your Data

Three months ago, we came up with the idea for an AI app that would make Earth observation data easy-, ready- and free-to-use for everyone, everything, everywhere, everytime. At the end of November, Talk2Earth went live as a demo app at the ESA Ministerial Council meeting in Bremen to showcase Earth Observation + Artificial Intelligence = Earth Intelligence

Talk to Earth

On Talk2Earth.com, you can ask questions about your location or any other place on Earth in a chat, for example:

  • Where have there been changes in my city?
  • What is the snow situation in the Alps?
  • How is the water quality of the lake nearby?

In response, you will get a map with data visualization. Next, you can save the EO data analysis and share it for re-use as so-called Earthlet (‘Earth Intelligence Applet’).

LLM for Coding and …

What makes Talk2Earth special is the vibe analysis approach (similar to vibe coding): the data analyses are not pre-coded, but are coded dynamically by an AI. Talk2Earth uses an LLM to transform user queries into Python code. The Python code analyzes the Earth observation data (e.g. from the EU Copernicus programme) and visualizes the results.

Here you can see an analysis of nighttime lighting over Odessa for the years 2012 to 2025 and a decline in nighttime activity following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022:

… Coding with LLM

Generative AI was also used to develop Talk2Earth. What would have taken months and many developers in the past, our team members Philip and Benjamin achieved in just two months using LLM-assisted coding. Thank you very much for that!

Special thanks also go to our client, the European Space Agency (ESA), which has shown that Europe can be both fast and effective. We look forward to continuing our collaboration!

Next year, we will write more about the application and development of Talk2Earth and also present the agentic AI system design at a Lunch & Learn event.

Here is another Earthlet, which analyzes and visualizes urban change:

Talk to Your Data

The “talk to your data” approach (also known as “chat with your data”) can also be applied to other domains e.g., finance, marketing etc. Instead of dashboards with fixed charts and limited customization options, AI-powered analytics enables both flexibility in breadth (any use cases) and maximum in depth (any user: from beginners to experts).

A “Talk2Data” solution not only provides insights, but also assists with ideation and interpretation. The user defines their goals, the chatbot discovers relevant use cases, develops the required code and delivers the desired results. If the user asks questions about the outcome, the chatbot provides explanations for the analysis. If the user gives feedback on the output, the chatbot makes suggestions for adjustments.

… and the Academy!

Next year, we plan to revise our existing training courses and offer new training formats. In particular, we would like to offer more virtual, English-language, and one-day training courses, including for other time zones, to enable more people worldwide to participate. What do you think of this idea, and what would you like to see from us?

We Plant Your Trees and …

Speaking of Christmas: instead of buying Christmas presents, we are planting trees on behalf of our customers! This year, we have ordered 26 trees from Plant-My-Tree to be planted in Lüdenscheid.

We planted a tree for every training, workshop, sprint, and more. A heartfelt thank you to all our customers and participants in 2025!

… Monitor Them From Space.

We have planted trees with Plant-my-Tree over the last few years. That’s why we were curious to find out what impact the reforestation had, so we asked Talk2Earth. The result is impressive and visible from space.

Btw: From idea to implementation, this Earthlet took only 2 hours—thanks to Talk2Earth!

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year

We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the new year and driving your data & AI business forward together!

A Love Story: Miro+Lovable

I saw it for the first time in New York at Miro’s Canvas 25 conference: a Miro board was instantly turned into an app in Lovable—impressive! Last week, Miro asked me if I would like to test the MCP integration Miro+Lovable myself—as one of ten community members worldwide! Of course, I said yes. In this blog post, I’ll share my journey, my learnings, and, of course, the result: a ski race app. ⛷️
